What are the benefits of integrated thresholds for aluminium bifold doors?

If your customers are looking to renovate their property this year but don’t know where to begin, why not recommend our EasyFold bifold doors?

The Builders Choice want to help you enhance their property in the best way possible. Installing our EasyFold doors offers several benefits, including high levels of thermal efficiency and durability. The aluminium bi-fold doors are available with an integrated threshold cill, which can make their home more accessible for family and friends.

What is an integrated threshold?

EasyFold bifold doors use a rebated cill frame so your customers can make the most of the glass in their new doors. To simplify it, a rebated cill frame no longer has a separate cill. Instead, the cill is included within the frame. As there is no cill, there is no need to have silicone running down the back of it, which is normally used for weather proofing.

The integrated cill at The Builders Choice combines a 150mm projection cill nose with the rebated cill frame. This reduces the height of assembly by 25mm, which increases the exposed surface of glass. With integrated cills, our bifold doors are only available as an open out structure.

Accessibility

Our integrated threshold cill provides several benefits, making it a worthwhile addition to your EasyFold bifold doors purchase.

Our EasyFold bifold doors with a threshold cill are favourable for anyone requiring easier access to their home. It is particularly useful for those with mobility issues, or for families with small children who want to get rid of any additional trip-hazards.

As the height of the assembly is reduced by 25mm, the integrated cill reduces the risk of tripping, creating a safer environment for families with smaller children. Many wheelchair users struggle with higher thresholds when navigating from room to room or from the inside to the outside. Installing low threshold cills ensures a seamless connection out of the room, making it easier for wheelchair users to move around.

Efficiency

Not only do our low threshold cills increase the level of accessibility in your customers’ homes, but they are also time and energy efficient.

Choosing our lower threshold cill can reduce the installation time on-site. As the cill is integrated into the frame, the time spent unpacking and installing the cill is removed and can be spent doing other things. This is the same for the silicone seal that is no longer needed to run down the back of the cill.

You may worry that removal of the cill and silicone seal could have a negative impact on the weather proofing of our EasyFold doors, but this is not the case. The integrated cill is designed for exposure to all kinds of weather.

The cill is already connected to the frame and without the silicone seal connection, there are no gaps in the system. This, in addition to hidden drainage, helps to reduce the chance of leaks.
